fan ficition explaining terminator timeline
Jun 27 2008, 9:52 PM EDT I wrote my version of how the whole terminator timeline got started explaining how Kyle Reese got to 1984 to start with and how he could be John's father. I had it set up neatly with paragraphs that I cut and pasted from my word processor. Once it posted, there were no paragraphs. I'll keep working on that. I thought since everyone else was explaining things with their stories, I would do the same. It was really bugging me how John had to exist to send Kyle back to ensure that he is born. I wasn't trying to undo the story we know--just fix the part that messes with my head that John has to be in the future in order to send Kyle back so he could be born. Just my way of getting Kyle back to 1984 the very first time to be John's dad in order for the T1, T2, SCC story as we know it to exist without making me think so much. I've slept much better since I wrote the story. Do you find this valuable? |

I wasn't trying to change time lines--just get Kyle back to 1984 the very first time to be John's dad so it wouldn't mess with my head so much and simply be a time loop. So in these time lines you gave me the link to, most of them say "fourth" Sarah Connor. I'm assuming that's because the T1 story is not literally the "first" time Kyle goes back to 1984. That's why I sort of retold T1 in my story--I had to get everything lined up just right so that when Kyle gets sent back to 1984 in the movie that everything was in place for it to happen the way the T1 movie went and so that T2 and SCC could continue the story. Do you find this valuable? |

Did you like the story?"As others have said, it is a nice twist to the saga, where the robot sent back was intended to be used for good rather than evil. The initial motivation was explained well, as well as what happened afterward with the robot going bad and Kyle's injury from the storm. I didn't think of it that way and in all my theories the robot always serves an evil purpose. I've got three different theories on how it all started. In two of them, John Connor didn't exist in the original timeline. Out of those two, Skynet did exist originally in one of them, but not in the other. The latter (third theory) is similar to your story (Skynet doesn't exist in the future), except that the robot sent back is still a terminator, but not built by Skynet. It's sent back as part of a government conspiracy to kill Sarah Connor in the past, possibly because one of her descendants has a lot of enemies. Kyle Reese is sent back by a rival faction in the government. Kyle defeats the terminator and Sarah ends up crushing it in the factory. The terminator's chip is subsequently used in Skynet's development. This alters the timeline and the government that sent the terminator and Kyle cease to exist. Sarah gives birth to John, who grows up to lead the Resistance against Skynet. I intend to write stories on each of the three theories....when I get the chance. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Like I said, this was just my way to work out what bothered me. I can't simply accept that the end of T1 opens the time loop and the beginning of T1 closes the time loop. There has to be more to it for me, and anything that explains Kyle Reese arriving from the future so John can be born is cool to me. Do you find this valuable? |
