And what's up with everyone and the yuck factor? Granted that's not the best picture of Sigourney, but I think she looks pretty good for a woman nearly 60 years old. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

However, I do need to point out that Sigourney paved the way for actresses being cast as hard-assed, kick-butt, and in-your-face action heroes. A venue that had always been given to male actors prior to 1979. Sigourney's "Ripley" character in 1979's "Alien" still sets the standard for actresses in lead action roles. Linda Hamilton (T1/T2), Geena Davis (The Long Kiss Goodnight), Jodie Foster (Panic Room, Flight Plan, and The Brave One), and many other female actresses including Summer and Lena, owe their lead roles in action movies to Sigourney. And BTW, Sigourney was hot when she was 27. 5 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

They are similar in the sense that they both play tough as nails heroines. They can kick butt in the boys' club, yet still retain their femininity and vulnerability when it's called for. They don't just play the male roll, but just happen to be women cast in the parts. And Sigourney still looked good in "Galaxy Quest." In John's progression to a man, I just hope they don't turn him into Jack Bauer or Rambo or even John McClaine where he seems more like a typical cartoonish, stock action character where they are remorseless killers even if they think their cause is just; that as a REAL human being you are not alway tough as nails even if you are a guy. Things can eat at you, cause you stress, pain, and anguish. You have to deal with it and try to live with it, and sometimes you can't and you break down and need help in getting back up. That's a well rounded character, in my book. Maybe as Cameron is (hopefully) evolved she will begin to exhibit human-like, relatible cracks in the "armor" too. And then that's what family, friends, and companions are there for: to be a source of strength and support and love and compassion when you are in need. To help see you through because no one can bear the burdons alone. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

If that doesn't work they can just play a mother and daughter. Do you find this valuable? |
