Should they find a way to save Kyle and bring him back onto the show? 5  out of 6 found this valuable. Do you?

Josh had wanted to, but James Middleton talked him down. I think that's why Derek was created. They met half way: John's uncle.

It would really be too dangerous of a move to bring him back. I know a lot of people are indifferent to him coming back and even more would like to see him back but I think there are even MORe that would be completely against it. Too risky to do. 4  out of 4 found this valuable. Do you?

Kyle served his purpose, both as a character and as as a critical story arc in T1. He was sent back, saved Sarah, and Fathered John. There really isn't anything more they could do with his storyline other than bringing him back just to bring him back. I know at one point Friedman was thinking of working Kyle into TSCC, but this proved to be a challenge and would raise more questions than answers. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Very well put.

Kyle has pretty much brought everything his character can to the "past". I suppose they can feature him some more in the "future" episodes as they already have and delve more into the circumstances in which he was sent back by John.

In fact, I'm sure they're going to delve into this more. They'll reveal more of the background story from Ep.6 Dungeons&Dragons. Like who was in the basement, why John decided to send them back, etc....

But it'd be pretty useless to bring him back to the pre-war setting. You'd need some pretty creative writing to make his character meaningful again if you brought him back. It's more trouble than it's worth and the potential for ruining his legacy far outweighs any potential benefits.

Kyle had his moment in the sun, T1 was his heroes journey with a heroic end, bringing him back would only diminish his achievements and memory 1  out of 3 found this valuable. Do you?

I think it would raise too many questions, and the whole discussion of time travel would come back up, which gave me a headache..lol :P 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Having him in the future to show more about him there is a great idea!

I think they don't need to rock the boat like that, at least at this point. It's too controversial and the show hasn't yet established a firm footing. Do you find this valuable?

in theory i agree. if we are going to get more, however, it might be better for them to put him in bits and pieces in the flashbacks. all three movies are full of flashbacks. for sarah, kyle is like a bittersweet memory. so, along with the general direction of this thread, i'd say he should not 'come back' but learning a bit more about him would be alright to my reasoning. i think a better angle is how is sarah getting along in her life without him. this is 'sarah connor' chron. i think the legacy is very important. if the writers go too deep, everything we know about him that is doctrine, up to this point, will weaken and get floppy. i personally don't want a floppy kyle reese. i like him insane, fanatically anti-machine, fiercely loyal, big, bad, blonde and sexy. and besides, i'd rather see more of the real life derek. we've established him so well this season....sooner or later they will have to give us a bone or two with the details of kyle just before he left the future. bring on tscc season 2!

How about this plot line....

Sarah discovers a letter that Kyle wrote (like in an upstairs box) she starts to read it, and they have a flashback (?)

"Should they find a way to save Kyle and bring him back onto the show?"
I have read so far what everybody is saying about Kyle coming back, some of it is valid and some is not. I agree with most and disagree with some but as a huge fan of Kyle, I would absolutly love to see more of him in future episodes. But it does worry me that it will ruin the character if the show doesn't do it right. Anyway I don't see another actor doing such an awesome job of playing Kyle as Michael Biehn, he brought the character to life, he played Kyle so well that the fans still love this character, you cared about him and when he died it actually me sad. He did such a superb job that as I watched T1, I feel in love with him just like Sarah. Kyle's world is one of endless war, squalor, loneliness and fear, there is little room in his life for feelings, but what little there is sparks an emotion powerful enough to transcend time. Sarah Connor is his mission and his life, and he respects her and loves her with all his heart, so yes I would love to see Kyle come back as long as they don't ruin the what the character was about. Thats my opinion anyhow.

What if they had Linda Hamilton and or Michael Biehn do a cameo? Or would that just ruin the story line? (of course not as Sarah and Kyle but some other way)

I think if Linda Hamilton did a cameo it would ruin what Lena Headey has worked on in regards to getting people to see her as Sarah Connor. Soon as Hamilton hit the screen even if it's as an entirely different character, people would think "Oh there's the REAL Sarah Connor."

Now, Michael Biehn I could see as doing a cameo.

Yes, I agree that Michael Biehn should do one small cameo (pretty please, Josh!). Maybe as Derek and Kyle's dad or even somebody else entirely.

You'd almost have to do a double take now that he's older, so it sure wouldn't seem so jarring IMHO.

One very, very cool homage they did in Smallville was to have Christopher Reeve and Margot Kidder guest star. Reeve played a mysterious, paralyzed (of course) scientist who helps Clark find his true origins and destiny. Kidder played his assistant. It had a very touching "passing of the baton" kind of vibe and it wasn't distracting at all-- Like Reeve was handing off the iconic Superman roll that Reeve's fans would always remember him as to Tom Welling.

They even used the opportunity to raise money and awareness for Chris Reeve's foundation. Good call, good call. Reeve truly was a "super" man. Such a sad ending for such courageous people as he and his wife.

Michael Biehn doing a cameo would be a dream come true.
