Education?

There is no such acting school in London ("English Rose School of Acting, London, England"). Or anywhere else for that matter. The term "English Rose" is usually used to refer to an English girl. I think the journalist who used that phrase was using it to describe an attractive, young English actress who has no formal training in acting. That said, she does a great job with natural talent! 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

Agree with your comments. "English Rose" usually refers to one of England's national emblems, the Tudor Rose. The term is also commonly used to describe an English girl, usually with regard to a certain complexion, or appearance in general.

However, the school is real.

From All Movie Guide:
One of the latest in an illustrious line of British actresses to graduate from the English Rose School of Acting into the realm of full-bodied contemporary roles, Lena Headey first came to the attention of audiences in 1992, when she played the younger version of Jeremy Irons' wife in Waterland. Hailing from Yorkshire, where she was born in 1976, Headey originally intended to be a hairdresser. Fate intervened, however, when her performance in a one-off show in the company of six school friends at the National Theatre caught the interest of a casting agent, who contacted her drama teacher and subsequently cast Headey in Waterland.

Another graduate:

Bridget Moynahan ("I, Robot")

Again, the school doesn't exist. It's a euphemism...... She was spotted in her first stage production (NYT). The NYT is a wonderful program here in the UK, providing performance opportunities for students no matter what their background. Some participants go on to RADA , Guildhall School of Music & Drama LAMDA, etc. Ms. Headey did not.

Another inaccuracy in that quote is that she was born in Yorkshire. Ms. Headey was born in Bermuda and raised in Yorkshire. Hudderfield to be more accurate. Her mum and dad still live there.

Seems to me that inaccurate statement has propagated itself many places........

Tara!

Bridget Moynahan is a yank. She trained as an actor at the Caymichael Patten Studio (a REAL school!) in New York. Does no one check their facts anymore?
