How come this Sarah can't show her love for Kyle Reese that well?
Feb 25 2008, 11:29 PM EST I really like this show but the only thing that really bugs me is that the person playing Sarah Connor doesn't really show her love for Kyle Reese. It just rubs me the wrong way, how she always refers to him as Kyle Reese is that how you would refer to the love of your life. Ms. Headey doesn't seem to be able to express that emmotion well, she tries but at the end she fails. The John Connor character does a superb job, whenever he refers to his father, You can just tell that even though he has never met his father, he cares and loves him. I just don't like the way this Sarah seems to care more about this Charlie chacter than Kyle. The terminator story is about the great love between Kyle and Sarah and how through that love John Connor came to be. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

I thought of it as an unlikely hero rising up to save humanity from a threat sci fi and people have fantasized about for a long time. People have predicted machines being smart enough and will say NO like in the planet of the apes. Slave rises up. Robots becoming smarter spawns lots of movies, Matrix, iRobot, AI (sorta) So she has to raise this SUPER soldier that saves humanity. She has to be tough. She has to show that she is tough. She can't be sitting there plucking flowers. Ignore the books and comic books. Stick to T1 T2 and the SCC. Thats what the writers claim to be doing. That one night in the hotel (which I watched as a kid over and over) was just a small moment. Also Reese is not the heart and sould of the terminator movies. He was a character in T1. And after that just someone that got mentioned here and there. When ever I bring up Terminator to people they say Arnold Schwarzenegger. Not kyle reese. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Mum couldn't afford it and I waited every year for Santa to bring one. He never did. "Never depend on a man. Santa is one too." Maybe Sarah Connor has "issues" from her past. I don't mean like mine but you know. Do you find this valuable? |

Mar 1 2008, 10:34 AM EST In the missing scenes of T2, Kyle was there for her (at least in a dream)--telling her to keep going, to protect their son, to do whatever it takes to save him and the future. PLUS, she's already said, many times, that John is like his father in so many ways. So, in a way, her love for Kyle is expressed in her love for John. Everytime she looks at her son, she loves Kyle, and every time she saves him and protects him, Kyle is there with her. We can only hope for a 'dream' version of Kyle in this show; I would love to see him again. (As for Santa being a myth, I don't think that was avril33's point...) Do you find this valuable? |

I probably have missed the parts when she has said that John is like his father. And I don't mean to be unfair to the new person that plays Sarah in the show. And you are right, Kyle did say in the T2 dream sequence that he will always be with her. And I am also keeping my fingers crossed for a dream sequence of Kyle in this show, that would be awesome to see Kyle and Sarah together again. :) Do you find this valuable? |

Mar 16 2008, 12:08 PM EDT I think her love was intense at the time they were together because of the overwhelming and unfathomable situation. She was his love of his life, and was like that for many years before he actually got to meet Sarah in person. Staring day after day at a photograph, obsessed by his imaginations of who and what she was. She was a legend to him. Having been a kid when this all started, his love life was NIL. He had to deal with death and destruction and the inevitability of his own destruction at some point. She only knew him for a few days, but his self sacrifice and his deep devotion to her would melt anyones heart. So I don't think you can say he was the love of her life, but he is the father of her child and the real savior of the human race. She has lived many more years being hunted by terminators and rejected by her own Kind as a lunatic and psychopath, and her one day to day thought is to fight to keep her son alive. At this point in time I don't think she has much emotion left, and on top of that I am sure she thinks being emotional is a crutch and a weakness she just cannot afford. At this point in time she would even kill Derek if she felt she had to - a tad Terminatorish? I think she is headed for an emotional crisis in the seasons to come. No one can hold onto that amount of fear and grief for that long and not explode. The fact that John is starting to stand on his own two feet will give her a chance to feel again, and not be totally focused on him alone. I think the writers need to let her take more control of this series though. All the characters are equally strong, but it is her Chronicles after all LOL. We need to see her take more command and push more buttons here, in the true "don't get between a mother and her cub" mentality. She needs to rein in all the characters strengths and keep them on the straight and narrow path to victory over SkyNet. She needs emotional involvement to,... Do you find this valuable? |

I know she has recieved alot of stick from members of this forum, but she just doesnt cut it. You want Sarah Connor - you want Linda Hamilton from T2. Now thats what you call fiery, living on the edge, passionate etc etc! There is a scene from T2 where she is in a dream like state after being drugged by Dougie and Kyle appears in her dream..the charisma, the endurance, the lust, the craving she still has for him, it's irrelevant whether she knew him for 2 days or 2 hours, the attraction will always be there and should be there. Lena plays a character that fits more into the life of a middle aged mommy of 3 married to a rich Wall Street Exec and is only good for cooking cleaning and ....I'll leave the rest for your imagination!
