Cameron made the Turk lose
Feb 15 2008, 1:37 AM EST
After Sarah burned the poor chump Adam's house down, he rebuild The Turk from memory. Sarah, John and Cameron find themselves at the computer vs. computer chess tournament the The Turk is expected to win...and the creators thereafter win a military contract, fueling the fear that The Turk is the precursor to Skynet, and Adam the future creator of Skynet.

But The Turk loses and Adam and his partner therefor loses the military contract. He still ends up dead, and I'm a little confused how Kyle Reese's brother's appearance in 2007 works with the timeline, but that's neither here nor there.

My insight is that Cameron is a variation of the T-X. This is not my original thought, but one that has been around on the internet because of her glowing blue eyes which are reminiscent of the badass T-X from T3 (which incidentally is on a seperate timeline than the show and T2). If she is like the T-X though, she can control machines, and while she was standing right behind The Turk in the competition, she caused it to miscalculate and lose. Perhaps to appease Sarah and John, to whom she repeatedly suggested just killing Adam. Thoughs ?

Nice theory but you are wrong. It was fate alone that cause the Turk to lose that match. And by doing so, the Turk is now able to develop its unusual personality that one day will turn it into Sky Net. If the Turk had won, the military would interfered too much with its delvelopment and there would be no Sky Net.

Interesting concept. The "crazy" Turk is better equipped to evolve into the AI of Skynet. It would make sense, being that Skynet took the crazy step of trying to wipe out all human life on Earth.

The less we mention the whole "nanobots controlling machines" silliness from T3, the better. This was indeed one of the "WTF?" moments when I watched it the first time. No, I also do not think Cameron was controlling anything. If she had such a capability, she wouldn't be fighting any of the enemy Terminators - she'd just inject them and turn them into loony Arnie copies.

Maybe the Turk lost on purpose because it was somehow aware of the danger, but I really doubt it.

I'm more inclined to think that the Turk, and even Skynet, for as intelligent as they are, don't have intelligence in the form of common sense. Their pure goal is to take the fastest, most efficient way to victory. Like I said in my other thread, the parallel of the machine hunting the queen and Skynet hunting Sarah is there. Even though it may seem like a strategically sound move, it proved to be their undoing.

Yes--Dimitri tampered with the Turk's programming to make it invite destruction in the wargame -- confusing its mission -- is it supposed to win or lose? So Dimitri may have driven the Turk crazy. Do you find this valuable?

Yep absolutely right, so far Cameron has not shown the characteristic ability to reprogram or control other machines or else she would have been able to reprogram Cromartie, Vick and the rest of them. Dimitri tampered with the Turk's protocol's in order to forfeit the match. Do you find this valuable?

The Turk was momentarily distracted by her hotness.

"Oh snap! Look at the Central Processing Unit on that robot standing over there! I wonder if it'll like my simple yet elegant RAID array? Maybe I can get its Serial Number after the match...Naaa, it's too high tech, it would never go for a simple chess playing A.I.... wa, what?? Checkmate?? Are you frickin' kidding me?? Son of a...!!"

That is highly unlikely. Why? Because Cameron could have gone into the street mainframe computer (the one in the basement at city hall) from the streetlight if that was possible, but she needed help from John to take out her CPU and plug that into the streetlight. Hence she can't control a machine unless she's plugged into it with her CPU.

Surprised the producers of that never sued James Cameron ... AI that decides to nuke the world.

Hey ... maybe they need to reprogram the Turk to play Tic-Tac-Toe!

That would be interesting. Just like in War Games, watching it go through ALL the thousands, and even millions of possible moves before it decides it cant win. And watch its brain fry...lol :P
