Lena Headey's accent kinda annoys me!
Jan 15 2008, 7:03 AM EST Especially when she slips up and it comes out. Everytime I'm starting to buy her as Sarah, I can hear her Carribean accent and it takes me out of her character! I almost wished they would've just let her speak as she normally would than have her force this fake American accent! 2 out of 18 found this valuable. Do you? |

Her dad was a bobby in Bermuda where Lena was born but returned to Huddersfield when she was 8 where she grew up. Now there's an accent to reckon with. Ee bah gum doesn't thee know owt in America? In episode 7, we actually get a flashback to her in the mental hospital. ---- About her accent... she's worked with a vocal coach, so it'll be improving. Jan 31 2008, 2:15 AM EST I think it is sexy. A slightly odd sound at the beginning of a single word, out of place for someone from Omaha but real people have accents. I have words that I say with zero consistency. I may be an ignorant know it all American but, Caribbean accents are nothing like British. Maybe slightly similar when you try to make it comedic. I really don't know how anyone can be so in love with a character from the early 80's revitalized in the early 90's. This is nearly 2010 as the grand scheme goes. Let go of the past and look at the present. I bet you cried when it was Christian Bale playing Batman and not George Clooney? Exactly. 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

Seriously, you know Snake in Escape from New York is not going to be an American actor in the remake? Sigh... We need Americana Paxana, not some weak ass society. I spent two years in Japan and grew to dislike British people. Aussies kick ass though. So do Canadians. British are arrogant and, well, they didn't like my nationality nor accent. After awhile, us ex-colonists began to get peeved. I don't want to start a flame war, so those of you brits who actually don't have a problem with Americans, feel free to make me feel better. I realize I could have just been around alot of brits tired of Japanese trying to make them speak with American english. I don't know. Geeky 0 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Feb 1 2008, 3:45 PM EST I had no expectations for this show coming in, and I have to say it took me only about five minutes to decide Lena Headey is going to make a cool Sarah Connor. Noticed the accent and didn't realize she was a Brit, but kinda liked how she rounds off words. The accent and the little gap between her teeth both work together for me...She comes off as an individual, a little imperfect and real, and that's a good thing. I like the dialogue on the show. I like her opening monologues, the soft brittleness of her vocal delivery. I like her kicking ass. I hope as the show progresses we get to see her lighten up now and then and maybe even laugh some. Do you find this valuable? |

Feb 2 2008, 10:30 AM EST I think that Lena is doing a great job. Trying to be like Linda Hamilton would be a mistake. I think her swagger, her own personal toughness and the way she is portraying Sarah is right for her. Her accent is fine - you hardly notice it. I get tiried of people always tring to find things wrong with show,actors or whatever. I just enjoy the effort of Lena to create another way to see Sarah Connor.
