This show doesn't make sense
Jan 13 2008, 8:45 PM EST After Terminator 2, Sarah went into hideout in Mexico with John period. There were no other Terminators to speak of. She stayed in the hospital fighting leukemia and stayed alive long enough to see judgment day did not come on the date she thought it would. As soon as she died John left and stayed off the grid. Terminator 3 told us all of that. I hate to see the story line of the Terminator broken like this. The show should have concentrated on where 3 left off, and started with the war and resistance. Not a drama of events that didn't happen according to the true Terminator story line. Disappointing..... 26 out of 117 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: This show doesn't make sense
Jan 13 2008, 9:09 PM EST Sure it does. Any story that involves time travel can always explain plot inconsistencies by saying that things that "don't make sense" happen in an alternative time line. And in fact that's what they did with this show. 37 out of 45 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: This show doesn't make sense
Jan 13 2008, 9:12 PM EST The point of the 3rd movie was you couldn't change the future. The 'alternate reality' idea is bunk. This is an insult to all the work that went into the other 2 and 1/2 movies. (The 3rd one only partially counts. The ending was right, but the rest of the movie sucks). 8 out of 39 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: This show doesn't make sense
Jan 13 2008, 9:45 PM EST Its a TV show! In a world full of reality crap this is a breath of fresh air! Non Stop action and pretty decent special effects. Well Done! Too much focus on details of the movies and story lines is kinda like being a Trekie and questioning whether the characters are speaking Klingon properly! Its just a TV show... 45 out of 50 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: This show doesn't make sense
Jan 13 2008, 9:55 PM EST The whole point of the show it to prove that you can change the future. Like in the first 2 movies. "The future is not set, their is no fate but what we make for ourselves." The 3'rd movie, while action packed, they didn't have the information to stop it from continuing. Time travel is involved and they are trying to correct what went wrong in the 3'rd movie. 16 out of 21 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: This show doesn't make sense
Jan 13 2008, 10:14 PM EST First off. This is not a breath of fresh air. This is the same mediocre BS all the networks are pumping out these days. Heroes (and Lost I hear, but I haven't watched it) is the only thing on TV right now that's taking ANY chances in it's writing and scope. This is going to turn into another series we can all forget about in about 4 episodes. What's different about this series is it's based on works a lot of people are big fans of. So far this an insult to all of them. On to the changing fate thing...if the 3rd movie didn't exist, I would agree that the movies were about changing the future, but with the addition of the 3rd one, it changes all that. The point of the 3rd movie is the war happens, even though we (and the machines) tried to change the past, it's simply not possible and the future is inevitable. I like it. It's very dark and very in line with the 1st movie. Too bad the rest of 3 sucked and was all in all forgetable. This series however, is crap. Like the original post in this thread, they changed the premise of the series. That's just a blatant attempt to rape Terminator fans out of money. They essentially threw out the source material and slapped the terminator name on a new pilot. Seriously, if this series didn't have terminator in the name could any of you say you would have watched it past the first 30 minutes? And would ANY of you actually defend this big steamy load? I think not. The fact that they tagged it with Terminator just pissed me off more. 8 out of 47 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: This show doesn't make sense
Jan 13 2008, 10:23 PM EST before the show started it was clearly stated, at comicon, i think that the tv show would take place in between t2 & 3. so taking that in i think the show has done a good job of picking up after t2, adn remember we are not supposed to know she dies of cancer thats in t3 remember? 28 out of 29 found this valuable. RE: This show doesn't make sense
Jan 13 2008, 10:41 PM EST This show occurs after the events of T2; the events from T3 do not occur in this timeline. The show is meant to be taken as an alternate history, like Smallville to Superman, not canon. Plus, the focus of the show is on the relationship between Sarah and John, without Sarah that idea would be moot. I'm a big terminator fan, but I don't watch this as a terminator movie or continuation on the movies, but then again I don't take T3 as canon either (T3 sucked). You have to turn off the fanboy part of your brain to really enjoy it, same thing happened when Enterprise came out and the trekkies were screaming over inconsistencies. In my view, everything ends in T2. Personally, I see it as Supernatural, but with a mother and son instead of brothers. Btw, David Nutter directed the pilot for both Supernatural and this, but I guess they changed the pilot too much and screwed it over. 29 out of 31 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jan 14 2008, 8:40 AM EST
This show occurs after the events of T2; the events from T3 do not occur in this timeline
If we can just throw out the original movies, then lets call Grey Anatomy "Terminator: Emergency Room." Seriously, you shouldn't get to tag a series with the terminator name if you throw out the source material. Besides, if you have any love for the terminator series, you should go running and screaming away from this show. 3 out of 36 found this valuable. Do you? |

Forgetting things that T3 added, i dont see how the show 'doesn't make any sense'. I knew right away T3 was gonna blow because sarah connor wasn't in it. 17 out of 21 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: This show doesn't make sense
Jan 14 2008, 11:08 AM EST I see a lot of people here need to take the poles out of their arses and just enjoy an exciting TV show. You guys sound like little annoying 8 year olds: "It doesn't go along with the movie." "It doesn't fit the timeline." "I'm disappointed that it doesn't follow T3" So what?? It was a great first episode. I'm really looking forward to the second show tonight. I hope Fox keeps this around for a while. FFS, at least there's a good show on Fox right now that has nothing to do with the words "Reality" "Lost" "Prison" or "24." I hope this show gets as long a run as those pieces of crap! 13 out of 16 found this valuable. Do you? |

Not a drama of events that didn't happen according to the true Terminator story line. Disappointing....."Dude...if this kind of stuff bothers you that much i wouldnt go throwing T2 around as the end-all-be-all....it had tons of errors and bad logic: "According to the Police database in Terminator 2: Judgment Day (1991) John Connor was born in 1985 and is established as being 10 years old, therefore the film was set in 1995. However, at the beginning of Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003) John's voiceover says he was 13 during the events of Terminator 2. In the cemetery scene John tells Katherine that his mother, Sarah Connor, had fought with leukemia for 3 years before dying in 1997. This would have meant she was diagnosed in 1994, before the events of Terminator 2 which made no reference to this. According to promotional material, John Connor is 22 years old in Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003), meaning that this film should have been set in 2007 instead of 2003/2004" In my opinion the material is already screwed up.....if you don't dwell on dates and "which events happened first" then this new show actually does make sense in a way. My timeline of things: - T1 happens - Pregnant Sarah goes into Hiding in South America and Mexico, training and preparing and raising her infant son - For whatever reason (assuming medical reasons based on her forthcomning Leukemia) Sarah and John come back to the US and are captured - T2 happens - Sarah and John go into hiding and wait out "Judgement Day". Sarah dies - John comes back to the US "staying off the grid" - T3 happens. In this show, I assume they are telling it from the point in time a couple years after T2 and before Sarah Dies. The events in T3 only happen if events int he timeline transpire as they did. In the pilot episode, when "Cameron" activates the time machine, she takes them out of time and puts them into 2007...effectively missing all the events that lead up to T3. New Timeline... 34 out of 36 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jan 14 2008, 1:51 PM EST Its better then most of the crap that network tv comes out with. If people don't like the show then why would they spend the time coming into a thread about the show and spreading negativity. Unless they simply don't have anything else better to do. Or they can't spread their negativtity anywhere else. 11 out of 14 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: This show doesn't make sense
Jan 14 2008, 2:05 PM EST But in the opening episode you have a paradox(time travel). Which opens up a lot of Scifi questions. So we have alternate earths/times/etc for story lines. I thought it went well for first episode. 13 out of 14 found this valuable. Do you? |
