| Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles Returns in August!!! | T:SCC Returns To FOX In AugustPerhaps in an attempt to get fans pumped for Season Two, FOX will be airing repeats of the first season of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles on Mondays at 8PM starting August 11. So, for those of you who missed the show the first time around, or don't feel like ordering the DVD when it comes out, you'll be in luck! | |
| New Character coming to Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles season 2 | New Characters Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles is currently seeking two new actresses to join the cast of the show for Season Two. "Becky" is a teenage girl (high school age) and is said to be a "hot hipster." She's probably going to be a love interest for John. "Catherine" is the CEO of a major organization and is said to be "unusually Earthy." She'll be in her 30's or early 40's. We'll let you know when and if any casting announcements are made. Both roles are said to be series regulars. Other Spoilers Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles executive producer Josh Friedman spoke with members of the press in early May about the upcoming second season of the show. While TerminatorSite was not included in the junket (very lame, FOX)... here are some highlights (be warned of spoilers): - Summer Glau will be back, in full force. - Brian Austin Green is joining the cast as a series regular, so, no New 90210 for him. - Some very minor spoilers from Mr. Friedman: "The show is about the family and everything that concerns the family concerns us. Last year, John was still in denial and didn’t want the problems of being a hero. This season will be his coming of age year. John will grow up and what will be interesting is that as the boy grows into a man, the less he’ll needs his mother. Sara’s ex will also be back. As will Agent Ellison. And I think it’s fair to say that Agent Ellison has seen some things that will make him re-consider everything he’s known before." - Friedman is not big on the idea of cameos, so we probably won't be seeing Linda Hamilton or Michael Biehn. - The goal is for next season to incorporate more action. More "Future War" episodes are possible, but they are the most expensive to make, and the msot time consuming. | |

| | DVD News!MovieWeb was also included on the phone junket, and passed along the following news about the DVD, from Friedman himself: "(Consulting producer) James Middleton says August. We did do a bunch of extras for the DVD. There's at least three commentaries out of the nine episodes, including a pilot commentary, one on the finale, one on the future episode, so we did a bunch of those. There are some mini-docs, we've got some good stuff. I think it's gonna be really cool. We had Summer (Glau), Thomas (Dekker), Lena (Headey), (director) David Nutter, James (Middleton) and some of the other writers and Brian (Austin Green) also. We all did commentaries, so there's some good stuff on it. I like it." | |

| 4/21/08 | She'll be back. Fox has picked up "Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles" for a second season. The network on Monday handed a 13-episode order to the sci-fi drama, an extension of the "Terminator" feature franchise that centers on Sarah Connor (Lena Headey) and her son, John (Thomas Dekker), as they battle enemies from the future with the help of a goodhearted terminator, Cameron (Summer Glau). "Terminator," from Warner Bros. TV, which launched in January, is the highest-rated new scripted series this season among adults 18-49 with an average of 4.4 rating/10 share. It drew an average of 10.5 million total viewers. | 16/7/2008 Terminator likely for renew for season 2 | While we'll likely have to wait for FOX's Upfront in May to get an official announcement, it looks increasingly likely that Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles will be back for a second season. In a new interview with the Hollywood Reporter, FOX Entertainment President Kevin Reilly is asked about the expectations that Terminator and fellow recent FOX series Back to You will be renewed. Reilly replies "They're really the lead candidates at this point. We've already started staffing on Sarah Connor. Although it was an unusual season, it will end up finishing by far and away the strongest new drama of the season." Reilly mentioning that they are staffing for Sarah Connor follows on TV Guide's Michael Ausiello recent report that directors were being hired for the first three episodes of Season 2. Obviously a network is not going to staff for a season they don't expect to order, so Terminator's renewal seems to be a certainty. Can you believe it? A well-received FOX genre series is going to make it to a second season! | |

I can't even remember! | T:SCC cast members on the picket lines to support the writersI can't even remember where I got this, but here's a pic of the cast on the picket line with the writers. The writers' issues affect them also. For example, they aren't getting payed for free streaming video releases either. When people go to Fox.com and watch the show, none of Fox's ad revenues will go to the contributors--the network will keep it all. That may sound hard to believe, but there isn't really much money involved now. A few years from now it may be a major source of revenue for the networks, and the contributors could still not get a share of it.-ManSeeksWoman
Terminator Producer Talks StrikeWhat will come of Sarah Connor?IGN.com, November 14, 2007 by Travis Fickett | How will the writer's strike affect T:SCC? [The following report is based on the IGN article. It isn't the article itself.] We've all been wondering how Fox can be confident they are going to be able to air a full half-season of Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, despite the writer's strike. Has it already been filmed? This IGN article features an interview with Josh Friedman, the creator of the show, the head writer, and an executive producer, provides some answers to that question. (In industry lingo, he is T:SCC's "show runner", which basically means the guy in charge.) According to Friedman, they have not filmed the end of the season. The have actually only "locked down" the pilot episode. The next few episodes are close to done—and the rest of the season is in post-production or hasn't been filmed yet. Although also an executive producer, Friedman views himself first as a writer, and has been on strike with the show's other writers. In the picture above he was joined on the picket line by Lena Headey. Friedman has also publicly endorsed the WGA pencils-down policy, which means that not only will the writers not submit materials during the strike, they won't be working on them in their own time. The T:SCC writers won't even begin working on scripts until after an agreement is reached. If the some of the episodes haven't been completed, and Friedman and the other writers are on the picket lines, how is Fox going to finish up the season? Apparently using scripts submitted by Friedman before the strike, without any of the refinements, tweaks and fixes that normally go on during production. That is, unless the writers and studios agree on a new contract, which no one expects to happen within the next few months. -ManSeeksWoman Read the article and interview...

So, what have you all heard about the new Terminator movie series that is planned? I think it's called Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins, and it's the first of a new trilogy... Anybody know how all the pieces might fit? I would think this new one has nothing to do with the SCC series...
Do you find this valuable?

This page has hardly been used at all, so I took some liberties trying to spruce it up.
I like the basic theme, which is News and Rumors, as opposed to articles. Articles will always have a large role in a page like this, since they are the source for most news items and rumors, but this page gives people a place to do some synthesis, interpretation, speculation, etc. I like the two-column table as a way to present this information, with the first for the source of the news/rumor, and the second for the content--the news/rumor itself--and any analysis that the author want to add. There are all kinds of little problems though; for example, new items should definitely go on top, but people may find it difficult to add a row to the table. I made some changes to make that easier. Most significantly I added two blank rows at the top with grayed-out "put new entry here" instructions. Not perfect, but that should help. We can always go in later and fix up where people tried to put stuff in but were stymied by WetPaint table editing, formatting, links, etc. How to do links to the source is something we're going to have to settle on. We could put article links only on the "Read the complete article..." text at the bottom. That simplifies formatting of the titles at the top, which get screwed up if you put links on them. We could also put links on the name of the web site in the left column, but not the title--something like that. For conventions like that we don't need to give people instructions, just a general "make it look like what's already there" hint, and then we can go in later and tweak their content to make it consistent when they stray. I'll write later about the "articles" section at the bottom. That's problematical. |
