Lena Headey is a British actress of theatre and film who is best known for her appearance in The Brothers Grimm (2005), Possession (2002), and The Remains of the Day (1993). Headey starred as Queen Gorgo, heroic Spartan woman in the period drama 300 (2006), by director Zack Snyder.

She was born Lena Headey on October 3, 1973, in Bermuda, where her father, a Yorkshire police cadet, was sent shortly before she was born. She was raised in Bermuda living on the ocean until she was five. Back in England, she was brought up in Yorkshire before moving to London in her teens.

Headey had not gone to drama school before she became an actress. At the age of seventeen, Headey's performance in a one-off show in the company of six school friends caught the attention of a casting agent, who took a photo and asked her to audition.

Eventually, Headey was cast in Waterland (1992), which became her big-screen debut. She honed her natural acting talent while filming and also took archery classes and horse training. Headey also took boxing in clubs in south London, where a former boxer had been teaching her to spar. uring her film career, spanning over 15 years, Headey showed her range in a variety of roles, playing characters from Amazon-type warriors and action-minded women in The Cave (2005) and The Brothers Grimm (2005), to a lesbian lover in Imagine Me & You (2005).

Headey's film career has taken her all over the world. She was in India for the filming of The Jungle Book (1994), then in St. Petersburg, Russia, for the filming of Onegin (1999), and Norway for the filming of Aberdeen (2000). In 2005, Headey was filming in Romania and Mexico, then spent four months in Prague, Czech Republic, where a forest was designed and built for the filming of The Brothers Grimm (2005), with Matt Damon and Heath Ledger. During 2006, Headey was in Canada for the filming of 300 (2006), then went to locations in Bulgaria for shooting The Contractor (2007)(V), then she went to locations in Germany and the Czech Republic for filming Der Rote Baron (2008). She is also billed as Noring in the upcoming biopic Vivaldi (2008).

Outside of her acting profession, Lena continues taking boxing lessons in London. She is a vegetarian, and also remains loyal to yoga, which she discovered during her work in India. Headey has never been back to her birthplace in Bermuda. Lena married musician Peter Paul on May 19, 2007. She is also very close friends with actress Piper Perabo, her co-star in The Cave (2005) and Imagine Me & You (2005).

I love Lena Headey but I don't hate Linda Hamilton. I've seen Lena in several movies and I think that she's a great actress. The only film that I watched with Linda on it was T2, but I'm sure that she's a great actress as well. They both played Sarah Connor and they've given us two different Sarahs. Linda's was this tough, badass soldier type Sarah and Lena's was a tough, badass overprotective mother type. Think about this, Sarah in
T2 was preparing for another Skynet's attack, so she needed to be fit. While Sarah in TSCC, she was more toned down, a bit relaxed because they thought they've stopped Skynet for good. My point here is, isn't time to accept the new Sarah Connor, not think about too much of the details/comparison and just enjoy a good show?

Now that we've given her a few episodes, do you think that Lena measures up to big-armed, tough girl, Linda Hamill?

There are so many movies I've seen that Lena Headey was in and I didn't even know it. When I first saw TSCC I knew she looked familiar but I didn't know from where and then realized "Oh from 300." But then I was looking at a list of her films and damn, I've seen a lot of them. Most I saw when they came out, years and years ago..to name a few

The Jungle Book, Face, Mrs. Dalloway, The Cave, Merlin, Gossip, Brothers Grimm, and maybe more

She looks different in a lot of her roles. Also, I think because it's over the course of about two decades so she's matured some.

Anyone else seen her in a lot of stuff before and didn't realize it until way later or am I alone in my awe? lol

There is no such acting school in London ("English Rose School of Acting, London, England"). Or anywhere else for that matter. The term "English Rose" is usually used to refer to an English girl. I think the journalist who used that phrase was using it to describe an attractive, young English actress who has no formal training in acting. That said, she does a great job with natural talent!
